How to Prepare a Government Job Interview

Getting into a government job is very tough nowadays as they are always the first priority for job seekers, because of the simple reason that government jobs provide stability and security. Government jobs are far better than private jobs so one should prepare very hard to crack all the rounds of the selection process. The toughest and most important round is Interview and you should prepare for it properly.

1. The foremost thing you need to take care of is how you present yourself in the interview, as the first impression is the last impression. Grooming is very important before going for an interview. So remember to dress properly, always wear formals for an interview, tidy and polished shoes and your hair should be done neatly.

2. Your confidence and body language play a very important role in getting a good score in the main interview. Therefore, do proper research on how to enter the interview room, how to sit, walk and also take care of hand movements. As we all know actions speak louder than words.

3. You should practice mock interviews a lot. As most people get nervous at the time of interview and forget what to say, spoiling the whole interview. So it is advisable that you spend enough time preparing for it. Mock interview session can help you increase the level of confidence and help you figure out your weak areas which you can focus and improve.

4. In the government job interviews, most of the questions are related to current affairs and general awareness, and therefore you need to be prepared for it. Make a habit of reading local and English newspapers daily such as Dainik Bhaskar, Times of India, Hindustan Times, etc., it will not only enhance your general knowledge but also improve your vocabulary and English language.

5. Create your resume in a systematic and organized manner. It should be clear and very impactful. The interviewer will spend a few minutes to go through your resume so it should be in an easy format.

At the end believe in yourself, be calm and listen to the interviewer carefully before answering the questions. Your voice should be audible, clear and pleasant to them. Do use hand gestures while talking because it shows that you are confident about what you are explaining. Keep smiling and be confident.
